Beaded Cutlery

Beaded Cutlery

B.J. Holdar created these elegant serving pieces.

Materials used:

  • Cutlery (B.J. used a small cocktail fork and cheese knife)

  • Beads

  • 24 gauge (or heavier) beading wire ($3.99/30 yards)

Your cost will vary depending on the beads you choose and the cost of the cutlery.

Tools used:

  • Needlenose pliers

  • Wire cutters

Detail

How to:

Wrap a piece of string around the piece of cutlery the number of times that you'll be wrapping the wire around. Unwrap the string and cut a piece of beading wire the same length plus a few inches.

Start at either end of the cutlery, and leave an inch or so to use for decorations later.

Wrap the wire around the piece, adding a bead on top for each wrap. Use needlenose pliers to wrap it tight.

Continue on to the end of the piece.

Using the needlenose pliers, form the wire into a design at both ends of the piece (see detail above). Be sure that the ends lie flat on the cutlery.

Cut off excess wire.

Other ideas:

Bling up a wedding cake knife to make it extra special!

Decorate a pie server and include it as a gift with your famous applie pie.
